Abstract: This chapter emphasizes the importance of seeking favourable recognition to advance an academic career. Fellowships, awards and peer esteem markers not only serve as rewards and boost one’s ego but also support career advancement efforts. Pursuing career grants, fellowships and travel awards from the early stages of one’s career is recommended. Numerous organizations and institutions offer research and travel grants to emerging scholars. Scholarly prizes, journal awards and conference presentation accolades should also be pursued. Seeking opportunities for recognition, nominating colleagues and self-nomination are common practices. Overcoming setbacks and persisting in applying for grants and prizes is essential. Additionally, it is crucial to share achievements and remarkable accomplishments through appropriate channels, including social media and university public relations units. Public recognition not only contributes to career success and job satisfaction but also fosters a supportive academic community.
