Abstract:
The UN Global Compact (GC) relates to international human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption standards. This study tests the direct impact of the GC on Business Performance and the indirect mediating role of Quality of Life between the GC and Business Performance. Using the source-position-performance theory and data from Africa, the results indicate that the GC contributes significantly more to business performance via quality of life than directly to business performance. The implication for business managers is that the GC can be a strategic source of competitive advantage, leading to superior business performance.
