Chapter 7 in Handbook of Service Experience, 2025, pp 82-102 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Customers’ needs are changing rapidly, and organisations need to innovate their services to meet them. However, service innovation is a complex process that involves both internal and external knowledge sources. This research explores how can public and private organisations develop a service innovation process. The study reveals central issues and solutions in service innovation development. The study also identifies common and specific features of the service innovation process across sectors, especially in the public sector. This research enriches the understanding of service innovation theory and practice in the context of open innovation.
