Chapter 17 in How to Get Published in the Best Tourism Journals, 2024, pp 240-243 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter draws together a number of the themes from the various chapters, and places them in the context of developing a publishing strategy and career as well as note emerging issues. Here, there are a number of issues that are on the horizon for journal publishing. Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a major issue given its potential influence on the publishing process with respect to the generation of text. AI is clearly just one factor that is affecting the publishing landscape. There remains considerable pressure in some jurisdictions to be producing open access publications, and the publishing and higher education policy environment is also affecting research culture.
