Introduction on financial markets
.
Chapter 21 in EU Banking and Financial Regulation, 2024, pp 215-219 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Financial markets have evolved over time, from traditional long-established stock exchanges, to other trading venues which are very diverse: while some of them provide organised, multilateral, non-discretionary and transparent trading, others allow for bilateral or multilateral, discretionary and less transparent trading. The overarching objective of the EU regulation is to create an integrated efficient financial market, which guarantees investor protection with the help of investment and information intermediaries.
