Abstract:
Regulation (EU) 909/2014 of 23 July 2014 (CSDR) on improving securities settlement in the European Union and on central securities depositories aims to (i) harmonise the timing and conduct of securities settlement in Europe, and (ii) provide a set of common requirements for central securities depositories operating securities settlement systems across the EU. This includes the introduction of authorisation and supervision requirements for central securities depositories (CSDs), as well as prudential, organisational and conduct of business rules. CSDR also harmonises operational aspects of securities settlement.
