European Venture Capital Funds (EuVECA) Regulation
.
Chapter 40 in EU Banking and Financial Regulation, 2024, pp 419-424 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Regulation No 345/2013 on European venture capital funds (EuVECA) (EuVECA Regulation) sets out a ‘EuVECA’ label that can be used by managers of qualifying venture capital funds (QVCF) under certain conditions. The EuVECA Regulation lays down uniform requirements and conditions in relation to the portfolio composition of QVCF that may be eligible to the ‘EuVECA’ label. It also gives a European passport to registered AIFMs that wish to market their QVCF under the EuVECA label to professional investors throughout the EU without opting into full compliance with the AIFMD regime. It aims to facilitate the fundraising of venture capital funds across Europe and to avoid distortions of competition between those funds in the Member States.
