Abstract: As business decisions have always been about “location, location, location”, location analytics focused on business, economics, and behavior is the focus of this chapter. Patterns of the location of different types of businesses in a city, flows of people, technology, products, and market segmentation are some of the issues that will be examined through the lens of spatial thinking. Rigorous connections will be made to other themes in this book—population, cultural regions, natural hazards, and their effect on supply chains, current events, weather, and natural resources. Through interactive maps, 3D globes, imagery, data, statistical charts, and visualizations, business and behavior themes will be analyzed through powerful, easy-to-implement lessons at multiple scale. These include bivariate analysis of median income and home value, hiking behavior, book-buying consumption patterns, airline passengers and flows, market segmentation, and even the optimal site for ski areas!
