How to drive proactivity in lean settings

Michela Carraro and Ambra Galeazzo

Chapter 9 in A Research Agenda for Lean Management, 2024, pp 149-164 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: The authors investigate the organizational structure and infrastructure characteristics of a lean context that encourage employees to adopt proactive behaviors. Proactive behaviors are seen as the backbone of a successful lean implementation. The purpose of the chapter is to review the extant literature to provide a comprehensive model that links lean management to the antecedents of proactive behaviors. The authors conclude with future research opportunities to identify the macro-, meso- and micro-factors that foster proactivity and disentangling their intertwined connections.
