John Thøgersen
Chapter 4 in Research Handbook on Nudges and Society, 2023, pp 56-69 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter presents theory on social norms and social norms nudging as well as a review of empirical research on social norms nudging within the sustainability domain. It ends with a discussion of when and how social norms nudging is likely to be effective, both regarding specific campaigns and as an element in policy mixes to reach a social tipping point for sustainable consumption behaviors.
