Intersectional lens to innovation
Shreya Mishra
Chapter 48 in Elgar Encyclopedia of Innovation Management, 2025, pp 183-186 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
The nascent literature on intersectionality and innovation focuses on the issue of diversity and inclusion, thus exploring the problem of social identity within innovation literature. While it remains an important issue, there is a need to understand the nuances of innovation from the perspective of power and the problem of sameness and difference. Furthermore, the critical areas within innovation that need further probing are innovation systems, the political ideology of innovation, and the institutionalization of responsible practices in innovation. This chapter introduces the term intersectionovation and discusses how taking an intersectional lens within the innovation agenda helps address these gaps through structural intersectionovation, political intersectionvation, and praxis of intersectionovation.
