Promoting your research in the digital age

Chapter 28 in How to Conduct and Publish High-Quality Research in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, 2025, pp 420-428 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Abstract : Promotion of research has always been important for maximizing the impact of one's work. Digital technologies have provided effective tools to promote work that goes beyond the traditional methods of presenting at conferences, publishing in top-tier journals, and sharing copies of published articles. The first step in digital promotion is to create a free ResearchGate account that will maintain lists of all your work and makes it easy to share copies with those who request them. Blogging can be an effective way to expand the impact of research from researchers to professionals and the general public. It can be hosted on a personal website, on LinkedIn, or on other platforms. A personal website is a valuable tool for sharing results and can be a platform for a blog. These strategies are important, not only for academics who must publish or perish, but for practitioners with findings to share.
