Abstract:
Over the course of more than a hundred years, the constant changes in technology, law, and regulation can be observed as under a magnifying lens, using the automotive industry as an example. Permanent change has been a characteristic feature of the automotive industry since its earliest beginnings. The economic success of this branch of industry, as well as its impact on the physical integrity of individuals and the material prosperity of entire social classes and national economies, brought the development of the automotive industry to the attention of politicians at a very early stage. The objective of this article is to show how an organizational framework for coping with future requirements in patenting, standardization, and regulation can be created for globally operating companies of the automotive industry facing accelerating innovation cycles and constantly changing business models, especially considering the complexity of automotive supply chains.
