Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic brought many challenges to all the countries in the world. These were economic, social, and political, among others. Regarding the economic aspects, governments had to deal with the loss of jobs, income decrease, and changes due to work-from-home schemes. In Mexico, the result was an economic crisis that affected the labor market in three main elements: the quantity of employment, the quality of employment, and the effects on specific groups of vulnerable people. The objective of this work is to show how employment and the conditions of work suffered in Mexico during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, and in what type of city, meaning size, and economic base.
