Spatial differences in morbidity and mortality from COVID-19 in Mexico: a regional and metropolitan analysis

Abstract: The objective of this chapter is to study the repercussions of COVID-19 on the evolution of the demographic variables of births, deaths, international migration and internal migratory movements, and their territorial expression. The time period of analysis focuses between 2015 and 2022, as well as a short-term prospective. In the territorial sphere, the incorporated geographical scales are the main nations of Latin America and the Mexican states and largest cities. The issues of deaths, births and migrants are interrelated with elements of population density, metropolitan labor markets and the population’s living conditions in this intra-urban study. The primary sources of information are the databases from the United Nations, worldometers, the Johns Hopkins University and the Mexican government.
