Abstract: The life cycle crown, or sustainability crown, is a circular diagram used in a life cycle sustainability assessment (LCSA) to visually represent the results of various indicators and sustainability pillars. It helps present and compare the performance of a product or service in terms of different indicators and sustainability dimensions with a reference or alternative scenario, aiding interpretation and decision-making. The sustainability crown is divided into sectors representing the environment, society, and economy, with colours indicating performance relative to a reference. Green and red colours are used to indicate better or worse performance, respectively. Sustainability crowns are flexible and can include different indicators based on the goals of the LCSA. The life cycle sustainability crown stands out for its flexibility, visual simplicity, and ability to support multi-criteria decision-making processes.
