Abstract: The term “sexual harassment” entered public discourse in 1975 at Cornell University and gained momentum through the “me too” movement in 2017. Both European and global surveys reveal its prevalent impact on women, although victims and perpetrators can be of any gender. Such harassment can have profound physiological and psychological effects, potentially impacting career advancement and job satisfaction. Legislation like the EU directive addresses its multifaceted nature, yet aligning with global standards continues to be challenging. The Istanbul Convention highlights efforts to combat sexual harassment, while the International Labour Organization's Violence and Harassment Convention offers a comprehensive methodology for addressing workplace harassment globally. The Social Life Cycle Assessment methodology includes an impact category for sexual harassment, recognizing that the main challenge lies in data quality and collection due to underreporting. These challenges are further complicated by the complexities of the global economy, making transparency and accountability efforts more difficult.
