The feeling

Chapter 14 in Reimagining the Gendering of Sport, 2025, pp 166-168 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: Despite a privileged upbringing and athletic success, I was haunted by pervasive unease. This feeling intensified over time, marked by social and physical discomfort throughout my sporting career. I felt lost, unable to pinpoint its source. Then, a life-altering call from a family member unveiled a shared, buried trauma. This revelation transformed my understanding, redefining my experiences in sport as the indelible instincts of a survivor.
