Reducing gender inequality

.

Chapter 7 in Western Welfare Capitalisms in Good Times and Bad, 2023, pp 98-103 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: Evidence from the OECD’s Gender Data Portal shows that gender inequality is gradually being reduced in most domains of life. In all regimes there are more women in political office, more women on the boards of large companies and more in paid employment than there were at the beginning of the 21st century. The Scandinavian social democratic regimes have made the most progress, but the other regimes are catching up. Progress has actually been faster in the allegedly conservative, corporatist regimes than in liberal regimes, which were expected to be more committed to equality of opportunity.
