Chapter 11 in Handbook of Experimental Methods in the Social Sciences, 2026, pp 404-451 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
We discuss the reasons and methods for measuring physiological variables in economic experiments and discuss the relevance of these findings for economic research. We focus on the role of valuation, attention, and other psychological processes via measures of neural activity (fMRI and EEG), response times, mouse-tracking, and eye-tracking.
