Abstract:
The central role of international trade in agri-food products in the achievement of global food security goals is outlined. The ability of international trade to overcome non-preventable local shocks in agricultural production is discussed. Recent technological advances in transportation and storage are explained and their impact on the costs of international movements of agri-food products illustrated.
