Abstract: Looking back while moving forward, gives a brief summary of all the ground covered and suggests at least two ways forward. Pillarisation was a Dutch experiment that recognised and affirmed the different cultural and religious groupings, supporting those differences and accepting them all on an equal basis but with a tendency to keep them separate. A Pluriform approach has been championed by scholars like Bretherton and pushes a partnership between state, civic, and business groups to promote democracy and protect minorities, not seeking convergence of ideas but rather of coexistence and accommodation. We conclude by affirming the role of a grounded religiously literate business leader in facilitating social harmony and ongoing community transformation.
