Methodology and the Analysis of a Monetary Economy
Sheila Dow
Chapter 1 in Money and Production, 2024, pp 12-40 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
The distinction is drawn between adding ‘money’ within a real exchange economy and designing a framework of analysis specifically for a monetary economy. The modes of thought employed in orthodox (real exchange) economics and (post) Keynesian economics are contrasted and their significance explored for the two schools’ respective analytical frameworks.
