Abstract: The inclusion of marginalized groups is one of the big challenges of our time. Societal debates about sexism (#MeToo) and racism (#BlackLivesMatter) show that societies and organizations function as systems of exclusion and discrimination. This chapter reports on participatory modeling to address harassment in academia as part of action research on gender inequality in academia. By building on personal experiences of the participants, researchers co-created knowledge about the system underlying harassment in academia, paving the ground for the identification of potential leverages for change.
