Creativity

Chapter 4.11 in Elgar Encyclopedia of Strategy as Practice, 2025, pp 402-404 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: Creativity is a central concept in management, entrepreneurship, strategy, and organization studies. However, there has been little research advancing a practice theory perspective. In this entry we briefly and selectively review literature on creativity, particularly the streams of research that treat it as an outcome or process. We then sketch some ideas of creativity from a practice theory perspective. Our argument is that creativity is marked in two ways: as an emergent happening within social practices, and through specific social practices that aim at producing creative outcomes.
