Emotions

Chapter 4.14 in Elgar Encyclopedia of Strategy as Practice, 2025, pp 415-418 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: Strategy-as-practice (SAP) scholars are increasingly devoting more attention to emotion as an important aspect of strategists’ day-to-day activities. Emotions that strategists experience and/or display have significant influence on social interactions, and therefore, play an important role in supporting or jeopardizing strategic intents of both internal and external stakeholders. As this stream of research evolves, some patterns of focus, perspectives, and methodological challenges emerge. We draw on some of the seminal and recent work to provide an overview of the insights and opportunities for future research.
