Chapter 4.35 in Elgar Encyclopedia of Strategy as Practice, 2025, pp 492-495 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: This entry explores the relation between Strategy-as-Practices (SAP) and neuroscience, emphasizing an underdeveloped link that can enhance our comprehension of human behavior in organizational settings. We highlight the potential for linking aspects of neuroscience with SAP. We argue that linking SAP with neuroscience allows for a more holistic understanding of strategic actions. Such a link encompasses both outward behaviors and the underlying neural processes, highlighting the reciprocal influence between tangible strategic actions and the intangible neurocognitive processes governing them. Linking the two research domains, we argue, offers unique insights into the neurological processes involved in enacting strategizing practices and thereby opens up new avenues for strategy research.
