Chapter 6.6 in Elgar Encyclopedia of Strategy as Practice, 2025, pp 688-691 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Some scholars argue that a human-centred approach to strategy fits well with the way African scholars think. The human-centredness to be seen within African epistemologies finds expression in strong family and community ties and a communal sense of togetherness. African perspectives are also connected to the practical wisdom that comes from living with intentionality and being in touch with nature. Additionally, the history, beliefs and folklore of African communities have been kept alive through oral traditions, storytelling and praise-singing. There are similarities between these features and the ideas to be found in the field of Strategy as Practice (SAP).
