Fabien Nadou and Camille Brou

Chapter 10 in Regions, Cities and the Circular Economy, 2024, pp 204-217 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: The case study presented in this chapter focuses on the current project to recover waste heat from the Port-Jérôme industrial zone in Normandy, a highly industrial and carbon-intensive area. The authors look at the implementation of this project and its impact on the development and attractiveness of the industrial zone. Their aim is to understand how the development of the circular economy, and more specifically the implementation of industrial symbiosis, enables carbon-intensive industrial areas to meet the challenges of energy and environmental transition. They explain how the project’s feasibility was studied, followed by an overview of the consultation process. They also look at the various obstacles and levers encountered in implementing the project.
