Policy implications and concluding thoughts

Chapter 12 in Women and War Economies, 2025, pp 218-241 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Chapter 12 concludes this book, discussing why these findings are important. It sets out some policy implications that arise from the findings. The chapter describes the types of interventions used to fight war economies, examining their failings and their gendered effects, exploring how these might be improved through better consideration of women. The chapter looks at the part that war economies play in preventing peace, and at how peace processes might be improved through proper inclusion and consideration of women. Finally, this chapter looks at how the findings of this book might be used to assist women in war, and to work against exploitation, atrocities, and violence perpetrated against women in conflict.
