Abstract:
This introductory chapter of the Handbook of Creative Regions (HoCR) explains the origin and evolution of the concept of creative regions. Then, it develops the topics covered in the Handbook: the concept of creative regions, the geography of creative regions, case studies of metropolitan regions, the rural–urban divide, the light and dark side of creative regions, creative regions in developed and BRICS countries, innovation in creative regions, and the role of artificial intelligence in creative regions.
