Chapter 17 in Handbook of Creative Regions, 2025, pp 316-329 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Technologies are triggering major changes in creative industries. While many regions have specialized in creative industries in recent years, the interactions with technology-centric industries remain poorly understood. In this chapter, using the region of Montreal as an illustrative context, we explore how AI-based technologies are implemented in three creative industries – circus, video games, and immersive experiences. The study highlights the importance of intermediation mechanisms to support technological change that is beneficial to the renewal of creative activities.
