Chapter 18 in Handbook of Creative Regions, 2025, pp 330-353 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: bstract: The creative region of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (MAB) hosts a wide number of Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) mainly in areas such as advertising, R&D, video games design, publishing, and arts. Although most of these industries agglomerate at its core, the city of Barcelona, its labour market as well as its creative ecosystem goes beyond the city boundaries. In this regard, the MAB becomes a relevant case study to understand the role of local administrations in linking culture and economic development in a creative region.
