Chapter 1 in Contextual Embeddedness of Entrepreneurship, 2023, pp 1-10 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
The aim of this chapter is to show the contextual embeddedness of entrepreneurship highlighting the multifaceted contexts - social, spatial, institutional, political - in which entrepreneurship is embedded. The chapter provides a summary of the work on embeddedness to date and shows how the change in the environmental conditions for entrepreneurship including crises, societal challenges and digitialisation have opened new avenues for research into the embeddedness of entrepreneurship. The chapter introduces the different chapters in the volume and their contributions to entrepreneurship scholarship and practice. It proposes new avenues for research on the contextual embeddedness of entrepreneurship.
