Chapter Chapter 3 in Dialogues for Degrowth, 2025, pp 33-43 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Degrowth has offered itself as an alternative to neoliberal capitalism, but to be a viable alternative it must more deeply engage with critical perspectives and experiences, including those of queer theories and communities. This chapter traces the current limited engagement between Degrowth and Queer Theory, and then takes Degrowth into a Queer Cafe, where they have an opportunity to listen to and briefly touch on a whole multitude of conversations, including around queer conviviality, reprocentricity, family abolition, queer commons management, and more. Though they can’t stay long, they know they’ll have to return.
