Abstract: Abstract: This chapter explores the ethical obligations and deontological principles that apply to legal professionals in the digital age. It analyses the role of social media in legal practice, discussing the intervention of bar associations and ethical codes such as the IBA's ‘International Principles on Social Media Conduct’. The chapter examines the obligations of secrecy and confidentiality, highlighting their importance in legal ethics. It also assesses emerging policies and regulatory frameworks relating to AI-driven legal technologies, including the European Bars Federation's rules on ChatGPT.
