Reflections on the use of qualitative research methods in emerging markets
A. Rebecca Reuber
Chapter 19 in Handbook for Qualitative Research in Emerging Markets, 2025, pp 269-278 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This concluding chapter outlines four themes that co-occur and re-occur across the chapters of this book: navigating outsidership; outsourcing research services to others; filling gaps in empirical evidence; and crafting theory with limited prior literature. Their implications for the peer review process and for research project selection are then discussed. I discuss ways to: handle what may be perceived as too much novelty, avoid excessively long manuscripts, consider alternative publication outlets, and think about the relationship between your research question and empirical setting.
