Abstract: In the introductory chapter, we set the scene for the Handbook by mapping the origins of intersectionality and discussing why it is important for social work practice, education, and research. The introduction outlines our approach and gives an overview of the structure and content of the Handbook. Divided into five parts and consisting of 30 chapters from international experts in the field, the Handbook provides an essential overview of intersectionality and social work theory and research.
