Abstract:
This contribution explores monitoring as a critical part of the environmental and human rights due diligence process. It analyses the nature and scope of monitoring in business and human rights due diligence. The chapter argues that measuring business impacts on environment and human rights is essential in the monitoring phase of due diligence. Additionally, it discusses the importance of methodologies for monitoring environment and human rights in business activities and engaging in consultations with internal and external stakeholders. The urgency to respect timelines and the obligation to update policies periodically are also examined.
