Abstract:
Abstract: This chapter explores the effects of educational interventions on young people with social care experience by re-analysing 63 randomised controlled trials (RCTs) funded by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF). The chapter investigates whether interventions that improve outcomes for the general population of students also benefit those with social care experience, a group known to underperform educationally. Using data from the EEF archive and the National Pupil Database (NPD), the study conducts a replication and re-analysis to identify differences in outcomes for this subgroup. Findings suggest that while young people with social care experience benefit from educational interventions, the specific impacts may differ from those seen in the general population. The study underscores the importance of considering ‘what works for whom’ in educational research and the need for targeted interventions for vulnerable groups.
