Chapter 2 in Globalization in a Turbulent Era, 2025, pp 22-37 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
The purpose of this chapter is to provide for a structural understanding of the relation between radicalisation and migration in the globalisation era. This is effected by starting from an analysis of the structural motivations for migration in sending countries and from the conditions in which migrants find themselves in receiving countries. To this aim the chapter is divided into two sections. The first section deals with marginalisation, Islamisation and migration in sending countries. The second section relates to social marginalisation, stigmatisation and radicalisation of migrants in receiving societies.
