A chapter in Elgar Encyclopedia of Transport and Society, 2025, pp 218-219 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Land value uplift relates to land value increases resulting from land investment. Land value capture is a policy approach recovering the increase in land values following government investment. Various value capture schemes have been implemented to fund public transport infrastructure. Properly quantifying the value uplift effects is the key to creating equitable and effective value capture schemes. The analysis of value uplift requires identifying a suitable model form, study area, and data definition. This entry looks at the impact of transport investment, particularly public transport.
