A chapter in Elgar Encyclopedia of Transport and Society, 2025, pp 24-25 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Air freight markets consist of a variety of service providers offering high speed and long-range transport and logistics services to support global production and distribution supply chains. The service providers are profiled, and the market shares and characteristics are outlined in this entry. Air freight markets have evolved and been shaped by more stringent security and customs requirements, with growth being driven by economic activity, emerging high-value products, and regions experiencing rapid economic growth.
