Self-service check-in
Charukit Chaiwan
A chapter in Elgar Encyclopedia of Transport and Society, 2025, pp 356-357 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Self-service check-in is becoming increasingly popular in the digitisation era of travel. It allows passengers to check in from websites, mobile apps, and kiosks in airports or railway stations. Each platform type offers unique features and different methods of completing the check-in. All platforms allow passengers to complete their check-in independently without direct assistance from staff. This technology enhances the passenger experience by offering convenience and improving passenger satisfaction, contributing to its widespread adoption.
