Data privacy
Dave Milne
A chapter in Elgar Encyclopedia of Transport and Society, 2025, pp 112-113 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This entry outlines the main ways in which privacy issues may arise in transport and mobility. It then explains the respects in which mobility-related data may lead to privacy concerns, before focusing on the challenges arising from the emergence of ‘big data’. The potential opportunities provided by emerging data sources are acknowledged, and reference is made to research aiming to overcome privacy limitations.
