Electric vehicles
Craig Morton
A chapter in Elgar Encyclopedia of Transport and Society, 2025, pp 134-135 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This entry summarises key themes within the body of research that examines the transition towards electric vehicles (EVs) within car fleets. These themes cover evaluations of consumer preferences towards EVs and how they compare to other propulsion systems, forecasts of the plausible adoption trajectories of EVs in national car fleets, the impact of national and regional government policies on EV adoption, and the infrastructure necessary to support the adoption of EVs. For each theme, some of the key findings of past work are outlined alongside the broader contributions each theme aims to offer to the wider objective of EV transition.
