Abstract:
After defining the wider concept of aeropolitics, this entry outlines the role of states in the provision of commercial air transport through bilateral or multilateral air service agreements, which typically govern routes, frequency and sometimes capacity. The entry specifically examines parameters of permissions relating to traffic rights, airline ownership and control and state aid.
