Governance
Wijnand Veeneman
A chapter in Elgar Encyclopedia of Transport and Society, 2025, pp 178-179 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This entry introduces the concept of governance as the ruleset for decision-making with various stakeholders and illustrates the application of the concepts in transport environments. It links the governance concept to key literature on layers of these rulesets (culture, law, contract, and interaction), mechanisms (market, hierarchy, and networks), and interfaces in policy-making (advocacy, policy, bureaucracy, and delivery).
