Abstract:
The advent of modern technologies and the evolution of financial instruments are making supply chains increasingly intricate. Although technology and finance have long co-existed, their combined potential has only recently been fully realised. Especially with the emergence of new financial technologies, the processes conducted along the supply chain have started to form a more integrated structure. The aim of this study is to reveal strategic guidance to industry experts by evaluating the potential of financial technologies in supply chain management through the prominent research field of fintech. We aimed to identify the technologies and methods that generate this impact. Data obtained from scientific research was examined using co-word analysis and natural language processing and Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) methods. These analyses reveal the prominent research focuses within the scientific literature on fintech and clarify the focal points of the study. Later, we did interviews with finance experts and supply chain experts. We detailed the role of fintech in supply chain finance, including expert perspectives from within the industry. Based on these methods, we compared intertopic maps and interview results. Thus, we created a table which includes converging and diverging points. This table has been used to make recommendations for future research in the field of financial technologies and supply chain management. In this way, a comprehensive perspective is presented to understand the role of fintech in supply chain management and to predict future developments.
