Chapter 30 in How to Keep Your Research Project on Track, 2024, pp 177-185 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
In this chapter we illuminate and explore the relationship between emotions, politics and disappointment in developing and maintaining research projects. Using three in-depth distinct accounts from our own field experiences, we highlight how messy and complex keeping research projects on track can be. Our chapter reveals the shadow side of finding, securing and maintaining research projects, by three researchers with differing career trajectories. We end with reflections and lessons learned for our own practice.
